Edina’s Country Club district was platted in the 1920s with a formal street-tree plan, and a lot of that original American elm canopy has been lost to Dutch Elm disease over the decades, though the city has replanted heavily. Mature hard maple and red oak fill out many of the older neighborhoods, alongside boulevard ash from later plantings that are now dealing with emerald ash borer. Basswood and honeylocust show up in some of the mid-century developments near Southdale.
